J.Odin Schurer
My name is Jules Schurer—a 21-year-old South Carolina-based artist who feels most alive with paint on my hands and new ideas buzzing in my mind.
My creative journey started at IDEA High School, where I was obsessed with 3D printing and art experiments. I practically lived in the art room, sometimes sneaking in after hours—so often that my teacher thought I was part of the furniture. College tried to steer me toward engineering, but my creative itch wouldn't let me settle. Dropping out opened the door back to what I truly love: making art.
Now, settled in South Carolina, I'm devoted to exploring the beauty of the Lowcountry through oil painting, charcoal drawing, ink, and printmaking. My work focuses on capturing light, color, and the moments that inspire me—whether painting outdoors at plein air sessions or creating portraits in my studio. I'm passionate about bringing scenes to life through bold mark-making and a carefully chosen palette. From vibrant landscapes to the quiet intimacy of portraiture, each piece reflects my love for storytelling through varied mediums.
When I'm not painting, you'll find me at local plein air gatherings, exploring new locations around the state, and continually refining my craft. I'm excited to share my work with you and create custom pieces that celebrate the places and people you love.
